Long Term Storage - Archiving
Long-term storage can help improve patient charting management. A patients chart i.e. tracings and documentation etc. are stored in a hierarchal fashion. Patients records are stored and retrieved as multiple pregnancies with multiple visits within each pregnancy .
LMS offers two options, optical platter or hard drive, for patient record long-term storage and retrieval.
Key Features
- Two options are available for long-term data storage, optical “jukebox” or hard drive.
- The optical "jukebox" allows multiple disks to be available for access at a given time, reducing the need to swap disks to bring up a past patient record. This option also allows easy creation of back up copies for off-site storage.
- The hard drive option is useful when permanent medical record retention is being handled by another system.
- Multiple search options for data retrieval:
- Last name
- First name
- Medical record number
- Admission date range
- Patient records can be held or sent directly to archive.
- Display of retrieved records indicates "archived review".
All archived data clearly indicates the patient status: admitted, discharged, on hold.
Key Benefits
- Allows you to compare archived patient visits to current patient status.
- Records are archived automatically according to a pre-defined schedule. You can also choose to delay archiving or to archive a record immediately.
- To clearly distinguish real time data from archived patient data, CALM indicates the status of the patient record when a retrieved record is displayed.
