Long Term Storage - Archiving

Long-term storage can help improve patient charting management. A patients chart i.e. tracings and documentation etc. are stored in a hierarchal fashion.  Patient’s records are stored and retrieved as multiple pregnancies with multiple visits within each pregnancy.

LMS offers two options, magnetic WORM storage or network mountable volumes (or shares), for patient record long-term storage and retrieval.

Key Features

  • The archive subsystem provides secure and un-modifiable storage (WORM) of historical records. The archives are stored in compressed and encrypted .xml format and customers are given a unique encryption key that is site specific. This file format in turn permits the adoption of numerous of-the-shelf technologies for long term storage at the Enterprise level such as the EMC Centera via Legato DiskExtender or the HP MAS.
  • For hospitals that are not invested in Enterprise-wide archiving and storage solutions, LMS is pleased to offer the support for a WORM NAS device from KOM Network - Kompliance. For more information please visit their website at www.komnetworks.com.
  • Alternatively, if the customer chooses to assume the long term storage of obstetrical records, CALM Archiving module can save the files to any network mountable drive.
  • Multiple search options for data retrieval:

- Last name

- First name

- Medical record number

- Admission date range

  • Patient records can be held or sent directly to archive.
  • Display of retrieved records indicates “archived review”.
  • All archived data clearly indicates the patient status: admitted, discharge, on-hold

Key benefits

  • Allows you to compare archived patient visits to current patient status.
  • Records are archived automatically according to a pre-defined schedule. You can also choose to delay archiving or to archive a record immediately.
  • To clearly distinguish real time data from archived patient data, CALM indicates the status of the patient record when a retrieved record is displayed.
